Phoenix in February? Oh, yeah.

I heard it snowed nine inches in Iowa this week, five inches in Denver. “At least the wind wasn’t blowing,” the Iowan said. “It won’t drift.”

But did we writers have to deal with any of that? No. The sun shone, it was in the high 70s, no spring wind yet. Ah. The ANWA Conference was shiny all over. http://anwawritersconference.com/

The staff was stellar. Best of all, I learned how to change the ending of my husband’s favorite joke, the original version went like this:

“What did the engineering major say to the English major?”
What?
“You want fries with that?”

Hardeeharhar.

Well, thanks to a great workshop on how to start up freelance writing by Matt Peterson ( http://whatiwriteforfun.blogspot.com/ ), the new ending is, “Can you write copy for my website? I’ll pay you $50 an hour.”

Oh, yeah, baby.

That workshop alone made it worth the price of admission. Thanks, Matt!
